Changchun DongFang Vocational College, founded in 1992, is a full-time medical higher vocational college approved by the People's Government of Jilin Province and registered by the Ministry of Education. According to the unified national plan, the university faces nationwide enrollment. It is an early established university in the northeast region, mainly focusing on medical and nursing majors. It is located in the China South Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone in Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province.
The school is based in Changchun, facing the whole province, radiating to the northeast, taking serving the major health strategies of Jilin and the country as its responsibility, facing the future development of the pharmaceutical industry, and oriented towards the economic and social development of Jilin Province and the northeast region, as well as the future development needs of the national pharmaceutical and health industry. It focuses on nursing, oral cavity medicine, pharmacy, and rehabilitation therapy, taking into account the coordinated development of disciplines such as medical technology, health management, etc., to build a connection with Changchun City The discipline and professional group for the strategic development of medicine and health in Jilin Province and Northeast China cultivates high-quality technical and skilled talents urgently needed to serve the development of regional medicine and health.
In 2016, the school launched a new campus construction in the current China South Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone. The new campus is planned to cover a total area of 570000 square meters, with a planned construction area of 290200 square meters, and a planned investment of 1.76 billion yuan. The overall relocation will be realized in January 2019. The advanced concept of campus construction, the harmonious and fresh appearance of the school, and the clean and elegant environment provide a reliable guarantee for the high-quality development of the school during the "14th Five Year Plan" period.
The school has continuously reformed the talent cultivation mode, constructed a career oriented curriculum system, increased the intensity of internship and practical training teaching, further highlighted practical teaching arrangements, and improved students' professional abilities. Currently, there are over 500 off-campus training and teaching bases, with Dehui City People's Hospital, Changchun Taikang Baibo Dental Hospital, Jiutai District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Songyuan City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jilin Guowen Hospital, and Dehui Fuyang Hospital becoming non directly affiliated hospitals of our university. The school's three majors, namely, optometry technology, elderly health care and management, and nursing, have been recognized by the Jilin Provincial Department of Education as a pilot unit of modern apprenticeship in vocational education.
Among the school's teaching staff, there are currently 4 recipients of special subsidies from the State Council, 1 "Changbai Mountain Scholar", 2 "Changbai Mountain Skilled Teachers", and 5 doctoral supervisors. The school has won multiple awards for the construction of teaching staff in private colleges and universities from the national and industrial associations, and has initially formed a high-quality teaching team led by high-level talents and dominated by "double qualified" teachers.
